Creating a Waho account
What registration involves, what to think about before you pick a name, and what to do when the sign-up screen won’t cooperate.
Before you register
Waho is a public social app. Your account is how you appear to everyone in it, so two decisions are worth making before you tap anything.
- Which display name? It appears beside your messages in public rooms, on live streams and on Moments posts. A nickname is the sensible default.
- Which photo? Same reasoning. Check the background of anything you upload.
How to register
- Install Waho from Google Play — see the download guide if you haven’t yet.
- Open the app. The registration or sign-in screen appears first.
- Choose a sign-in method from the options the app offers. Pick one you’ll still have access to if you change phone.
- Complete any verification the app asks for. If a code is sent to you, it can take a minute to arrive.
- Set your display name and profile photo. Both are visible to everyone in the app.
- Fill in optional profile details only as far as you’re comfortable. None of it is required to join a room.
- Grant microphone permission when you first join a voice room. You can decline the others until you need them.
After you’ve registered
- Join a couple of voice rooms as a listener to get a feel for the place. See the voice chat page.
- Set purchase authentication in Google Play before you encounter your first gift prompt: Play Store → profile → Settings → Authentication.
- Review notifications. Social apps default to loud; turn down what you don’t want in Settings → Apps → Waho → Notifications.
- Read the safety guide — it’s short, and most of it is things you’d rather know before than after.
When registration fails

| Verification code never arrives | Carrier delay or poor signal | Wait a full two minutes, check signal, request a new code once rather than repeatedly |
| “Network error” on sign-up | Connectivity or a captive Wi-Fi portal | Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data; disable a VPN temporarily |
| Sign-up screen won’t load | Outdated app build | Update Waho in Google Play, then force-close and reopen |
| Name already taken | Display name collision | Try a variation — display names aren’t usually unique-per-person |
| Crashes during registration | Cache or a pending system update | Clear the app cache, update Android System WebView and Google Play services, retry |
